F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Spell'mon?

Basically, your typical "mon" series (Digimon, Pokémon, etc.) turned on its head. Fundamentally, the concepts are all the same, but most of the characteristics that make a mon series a mon series are inverted. Spell'mon focuses heavily on its human cast and the culture surrounding them, is aimed for teenage girls, and isn't particularly merchandise driven. Contrast your usual mon series- which focuses on its monsters, is aimed for young boys, and is very much merchandise driven.

If you're looking for a lot of action and hundreds of monsters, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a slower paced take on the genre with a broader focus, stick around, you might like what you see.

Incidentally, the series was originally series of 12 short stories, but polished until you couldn't see even a passing resemblence.

The manga will be released in 3 volumes, each 160 pages long.

2. Where can I find those stories?

You can find a pdf file in the downloads section, though I really don't recommend it.

3. If you hate them so much why did you redo them? And why do you let us download them?

Because the underlying concept was salvageable, writing just wasn't my strong suit.

As for the downloads, I like having an archive, if only for a good laugh. I've had one around forever but it was in a site format that just wasn't built for long bouts of reading. So having a PDF file just made it a little less painful.

4. What's your fav icon supposed to be?

Believe it or not, it isn't just a shapeless blue and gold blob. It's a 16x16 pixel version of this, the symbol for Dreamaria's Gaurdian Spirit. It's probably a poor choice of icons, being too ornate to resize properly, but it is one of Dreamaria's more iconic images.

5. Is Spell'mon read left to right, or right to left?

Right to left.

6. Hey wait what was going on in page _______? _____ Seems suspicious!

If something doesn't make sense, it probably will later. It's bad writing to tell the reader everything at once. So if something seems vague, it's probably because it IS vague, and we're getting to that part.
